Last hurrah for PSU-ND rivalry? BY DONNIE COLLINS STAFF WRITER 09/08/2007 email this storyEmail to a friendprinter friendlyPrinter-friendly And so, it is ending, this rivalry that gives so much to two college football-crazy states: Passionate fans. Two of the most tradition-rich teams in the nation. A 12-game series in the 1980s and early 1990s that provided the classic in '87, Craig Fayak's last-second field goal in 1990, Rick Mirer-to-Reggie Brooks to win with 20 seconds to go in '92. It's Penn State-Notre Dame. One more time. When the longtime rivals meet at 6 p.m. tonight in Beaver Stadium, they may be doing so for the last time. Despite the passion fans in both states still have for what was one of the best year-ending matchups in the country more than a decade ago, the teams aren't scheduled to meet again during the regular season in the near future. That's only one of the reasons both teams are going to be looking to make one final impression on their opp...

WE ARE!!!!!! PENN STATE!

Image
Ye sit is true. The matchup of the year, maybe not for the actual football persay but the rivalry and history of the whole thing. Yup it is true NOTRE DAME VS> PENN STATE. They met for the first time last season after a twenty year hiatus because of different whatrevers but now the Fighting Irish are at Happy valley. Now here comes the best part, Tickets going for over a grand per seat. Guess where my kid is at.???? Of course you know she is not at her quiet Catholic university nopooooo.. She is in the middle of happy valley with her HS buds that are students at PSU and partying her ass off. She called last night at about 8:30 and I heard this incredible roar. then as I concentrated I could hear the chanting of thousands of college students WEE ARE PENN STATE!!!! And My Allie screaming in the foreground just plain old joyful spirited yaahhhhhhh!!!!! She obviously coldnt hear me laughing my butt off and enjoying the band playing their PEnn State fight songs. She held her phon...

OK here aree some oldies but goodies. Tim and I at a wedding circa 1986. Tim had hair and I look all shy and coy. hhhmmmm who is that girl anyway. The kids, with my Dad. We went to the mountain house every summer. But then one day on the last day of school my Mom adn Dad picked us up from school and sid ok here we go, where where? to the beach for the day. We drove to Atlantic city and jumped in the water, we had never been to the beach before this day. My dad is probably 28 in this pic. The last pic is Suzie and her friends from HS. Yup drinking heineken and smoking cigarettes on Liz's back porch. The girl in Yellow yeah I didnt like her, can you tell. Hey I was 17 yrs old and still scribbled people out of pictures.

Missi and Her bestest bud

Image
Something happened to Missi when she got her hair cut this last time. She just woke up a teenager. Makeup, hair done and really really nice. She has always been nice but she is EXTRA FRIENDLY. She liked school today and had her friend over after school. I made a pot of meatballs and they ate with us and really really nice. Allie is doing well. She has cheerleading tryouts tonight. How cool would that be to be a college cheerleader? I was lucky to get in on any football games. LOL. I hope she makes the squad I think she will feel better about being there. She told me she is having a little bit of trouble making friends, so I think this would really help her. I am attaching more photos of course and really need to tell the story of Sue and I when you are in the mood for a chuckle.

On my mind....

A few people places and things have been swirling around the ol' brain lately. I have felt reminiscent about old days, old people and the way things "could" have been. I mentioned (absentmindedly) to my current husband that if I had been such a fuck up I could still be married to my first husband. He was very kind and didnt freak out but I realize it wasnt a very nice thing to say to him. I think that situation started our weekend off with the proverbial BANG. I drove down Friday to pick up Allie from school. A two hour drive when accompanied by an adult that can read a map. When a two year old is in the back seat screaming along it takes two and a half. I can usually get somewhere without difficulty the first time. This trip that I have taken probably 0 times for different occasions to Philadelphia just befuddles me every time. Construction and numerous junctions of highways that intersect all along a three mile stretch just makes me drive like an 80 year old bl...

The house...

Image
sad face for school. "mom is a dork for taking my picture while i brush my teeth." The front door. It will be painted red after we move in. The fireplace space on the bottom and the windows up above. A long shot of the formal living room with kitchen cabinets in boxes, insulation and boxes of bathroom fixtures, pipes and stuff. I havent written about the house in a while. We had a little set back since the builder had to finish another job and leave ours for about 4 weeks. So now we are back working and it is really going fast now. The kitchen cabinets are in, the basement and garage floors ar poured. The french doors are in. The front door is in. I will attach some pics. Today was Missis first day of school. Strange without the Bert but all is well. She looked beautiful and I got to take her today. I picked her up at 1130 and she had a good day. She lost abou ten pounds since summer and definately has lost her baby look. I am excited for her. I will attach the p...

My Missi girl.

Image
It seems lately that my pics are Allie and Jack. Well here is my "in home rocker" Missi. She has the sense of humor of a 30 yr old and often gets taken as brusk, hard and misunderstood. She is misunderstood, because she is none of those things. I can say that if anyone was to bring a hungry stranger home it would be Missi. She talks to anyone and usually appears to have no fear of strangers. She is watchful, intuitive and mature. She is not the type to forget though. She may forgive but not forget. Sh eis going away for the weekend with a friend to the beach for their last weekend. Her friends parents own a home on the beach "that has an elevator in it Mom." Usually unaffected, she is excited to go with her. Allie is doing well and has called a few times to let us know she is alright. Jack has a new injury to the lid of his left eye. Not stitches but you know the old saying, "a hair of an inch closer you would have lost your eye kid.." Wel...
