Valentine 2026
2026... I will be 60.
60 is pretty old. Is it what I expected? I never imagined being 60 or getting this far actually. I would love to say I will live to 80, and at this point I don't know I just might! 20 years ago I was dead and have thought every single day since then that I was dying that day. Wasted time and energy, since obviously I am still here.
Classic Suzie though. Worry about something that never happens.
This picture I sent to Jack the other day after he sent me this.
Yep the boy that I worried would never be able to live a productive life is out there doing the college thing.
He works hard but loves what he is doing. He enjoys his workload other than the math.
His employment on campus is in the Geography dept, working in the offices of his dean and professors.
The funny stories he tells us are just so JACK.
One in particular. One of the female professors ordered a new desk and bookshelf from Amazon. They arrived and were delivered in boxes. The boxes sat in her office for a week until Jack asked her what she wanted to do with the new furniture? His professor responded she wanted them put together but was waiting for maintenance to arrive to do the work that required tools. Jack told her that he could do that easily.
So he went back to his room got his basic tools and returned to put her things together. He reported to us that the office help stood around and watched him do the job. This was last year, during the summer he received an email saying they saved his job for him for his sophomore year. When he returned this fall there were "jobs" coming in for moving furniture and reassembling offices. It helps to be well rounded!!!
One assignment was to move a computer lab from one classroom to another. He had to disassemble 20 or more computers and move then reassemble them boot them up and connect to the printers. He sent me photos of the job as it went along.
Jack lives his life at a 7. He is never too low or too high. I would love to hear about a 9, but I certainly don't want him to struggle through a 5, so Ill take the 7.
We could have much bigger problems, He doesn't drink doesn't do any drugs, and he's just rolling along. He could use more friends and get more exercise but ehhh he's doing his thing and we are happy.
Valentine's day? Suggested to be devoted to your love... The Love.
THE LOVE... The greatest LOVE, the longest Love, THE Deepest LOVE,
Is Jack THE LOVE of my LIFE? If time and energy and devotion are the precursors to defining great LOVE then yes he is. I am defining the men in my life. So if my son is my favorite man then I have done something right!! Im sure most mothers of sons will agree.
I love a lot, I am grateful.
So Valentines day in your 60th year is about loving the people that make up your life, those I think about everyday and cannot imagine my life without. If you're still reading along after all of these years then I imagine you are on my Valentines list and I love you.
