Where are the cheerleaders>?
Jack attends Wyoming Seminary which is proud to have the number one Wrestling team in the COUNTRY.
I grew up in a wrestling house. My brothers wrestled since they were in elementary school. I remember the nights my Dad would move all of the furniture out of the living room on Myrtle Ave and he would set the boys to wrestle. Which always ended in a fight, blood, crying by someone (me included) my mother crying and upset. My Dad loved it. As a child I would dread those nights, I have no idea how the boys liked it. That said, I know how to score a wrestling match, most of the moves (by sight) and how those moves hurt (by experience) We went to the matches to watch the boys wrestle and went to meets that they didnt wrestle in. We had a Wrestling High School. Then when we moved to PA I had girls. The last wrestling meet I attended before the other night was when my son in law Ryan wrestled in high school. Crazy right? Before he was my son in law he was my best friends son. Many many years before they were a couple.
Nanabird is having some cardiac issues. It has been 7 years I believe since her open heart surgery. Now it is time to replace her Aortic valve. In the process of getting to that we have other tests to get through. Im very very happy Ricky is here. Nanabird loves it, and I feel better with him around.
We got to go to our first wrestling match together in probably 45 or so years. We arrived early and waited for the opening we expect. The dramatic running in of the teams in their matching warmup suits. Hype music and dramatic spectators in the stands.
We didnt find that. That is what happens in 45 years I guess. The teams come in and stand at the mat edges. With the student body and wrestling teams members boys and girls. They introduce each member and their weight class and they of course run out on the mat and shake hands with their upcoming opponent. It was cool of course but not as cool as 1981 MHS wrestling lol MHS didnt have nationally ranked wrestlers either lol lol
So there we sat. Rick reminisced about his wrestling days, I recalled my days as well. lol
I was either the dummy on the bottom that got maneuvered with the same move over and over until I got rug burned or I was the one "hiding" with Mom waiting for the aftermath.
I watched Ricks excitement as nationally ranked wrestlers hes been following, he got to watch up close and in person. He knows where they are going to college and the wrestling family they come from. It was a great night.
We are at the beginning of something, an adventure with the bird. I am very hopeful we all end up just fine and in Florida together at the end of February with Nananbird. She always works so hard to make sure we can all go and have plenty of room for all of us.
From one minute to the next things change. Our priorities our train of thought our hopes.
Last week I was planning my winter closet clean out, this week Im planning nanas mult leveled heart surgeries. Last week I was sending Rick texts about college plans, this week hes sitting next to me as we push and pull against one another during wrasslin matches.
The more they change the more they stay the same.
