Aw yeah, I knew that would happen.
This is Allies 10th Birthday, in the top photo. Missi is 8. The same age that Jack is now. The bottom photo is on our bike trip to Lehigh Gorge, the first summer I was with Andy. They were 12 and 10.
This is Missis 8th grade graduation. I bought her dress with modesty in mind since she was in EIGHTH GRADE! The other girls looked 20. Not our girl. Most beautiful girl there.
Here is our Bitty looking so much like Allie She was a Junior in HS.
Allie her senior year, Cheerleading best friend Kellie. Kellie is now an anchor woman in Ithaca NY.
Jack and MaryJane, today. What will we say about this picture 10 years from now? 15? 20?
I can look back on photos of the girls and remember the day they were taken, smell the fall air of Allies cheering days. The spring flowers of Missis graduation from Saint Nicks school. Even down to the clothes they are wearing in some of the pictures I remember buying. Allie birthday party that year, we left for Cape May right afterwards for our vacation. Tim , Me, Missi and Allie. The smell of Missis clean beautiful hair.
Now...
Look at our boy.
The beautiful little girl. Both of their amazing smiling faces.
I will look back on this photo and say, I remember this day. A Birthday party for one of Jacks classmates when he was in second grade. Mary Jane wearing a purple tutu outfit, jack a green golf shirt under his fleece. His hair still damp from his shower. We ate pizza and cake. His favorite song at the time was from kizbop- FIrework by katy Perry. He was studying spelling words this evening, His daddy was away on business in NYC. His sisters... grown up.
Nana was at her house snuggled in for the night because she is going on a little getaway with Dave to Gettysburg in the am.
Jack is in 2nd grade. 8 years old. He is smart, handsome, funny, sweet and usually thoughtful.
MaryJane is three, the smartest three year old I have ever met. Insightful, and kind beyond her years.
She loves Jack. Loves him not in a silly little kids thing. She Loves Jack like we love Jack. Simple.
Someday we will look back on THIS photo, as we look back on THOSE photos and say "wow- time has flown by and so much has happened"
But...
there are things I know.
I know, they will always have THAT place for each other.
Not a romantic thing, necessarily, but a
I KNOW YOU.
I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN YOU<
I WILL ALWAYS KNOW YOU<
YOU ARE ONE OF MY SAFE PLACES<
I LOVE YOU.
As this picture popped up on my phone today, I looked at it and realized that it was one of THOSE pictures.
One that we will always talk about, laugh about, shed a little tear for, our babies when they grow up.
This day, was today, and I was IN IT.
I was there and loved these kids, all of them Louis, Jack and MaryJane.
Just being kids. Lucky, lucky me.
Take a look at what today brought to me, just another day on the calendar, just another birthday party, just another lasagna dinner.
another load of laundry,
another week of homework.
But remember, tomorrows yesterdays that we wish we could get back, just have one more minute?
Is now, right now, right here.
As I lay on my bed RIGHT NOW, I type away on this blog.
My boy is all freshly scrubbed, Mario and Luigi pajamas lying next to me. watching wild Kratts. Before bed in 20 minutes. Im living this life today. ANd very very grateful to be here.
Love to all. Take a moment and smell the roses.
AND take a photo.
