Let me count the ways.
The anticipated vacation took off with great expectations. I had all my school work done, the packing done, and everyone ready to go.
Andy, Jack and I go t into the car around 7 30 ish and were on our adventure. I can usually travel with Andy anywhere. I am surely not his greatest fan when it comes to his driving tactics but, he dries all day 5 days a week for twenty years, so I turn it over to the highway Gods when he at the wheel.
Anyway, we arrive in R I at twoish in the morning and get into our suite and I tuck ANdy into the big bed so I can get Jack settled down and we can all get some sleep. Jack had slept since 930 so he was raring to go a three! We watched some cartoons I go him some milk I took a quick shower and we were asleep by 5.
5:45 I hear singing, no chanting, no it was a drill instructor his "platoon?" singing as they ran "marched" for their morning PT. Oh yeah sexy, I know, but really does Jack Have to think it was a parade and wave out the window and call to the sailors GO BOYS GO!!!! My Dad was stationed at this base when he was in the NAvy so it was kinda cool to be there.
Beautiful in a military stiff way.
We drove to Newport and it started to rain. We drove along the shoreline and really loved the mansions and amazing homes. We had a lovely lunch at the marina of sailboats and Jack was a good boy.
We went to a shoreline spot where the view was amazing I will attach some pics.
We found our hotel and just chilled out for the night in anticipation of the big beach day.
3 am Jack is rolling around the queen size bed kinda crying whimpering thing. I woke up and felt a heat from that side of the bed. He was truly on fire with fever of course he was out the door and at a drug store in 5 minutes. He got Tylenol, Motrin and Tylenol cold. Our boy is now officially sick.
Today he wakes up acting fine but definately hot.
By noon he was on fire again and I asked ANdy to go back out and find a thermometer and a syringe for oral liquid meds since Jack fights every drop. He was 103 by the time Andy got back. Jack slept most of the day, ANdy and I just hung out and chatted and read and computered and "stuff".
Although the actual definition of vacation has not been fulfilled at this point I can say that my marriage is a good one today.
Our son was shivering, truly shaking and my husband held him and whispered in his ear about boy stuff. I saw how much we LOVE this boy.
My husband really does LOVE me. We spent the day in a hotel room while our son is sleeping and he played songs form youtube for me that remind him of me. Sang to me, and we just bonded. I felt bad that our first vacation day kinda flopped and really felt bad for our baby but I am so lucky to have this man. It is times like these that I am reminded how much he means to me.
He thinks of me and Jack first. He doesnt hold a grudge or resent being a Dad even when it is not glamorous. I like that, and I love him.
I have gotten pretty far into my book. Obviously with 24 hours of fever watch I am reading up a storm. (ANd cleaning a hotel room, thats whacked LOL)Pamela Jekel Deepwater. Forever long but as I now have some time it has been worth it. about two hundred pages to go.
W e got some dinner at the restaurant next to the hotel this evening while Jacks Motrin was at full peak and it was really nice. Calamari and a crabcake sandwich.
ALl is well in Suzie world.
We have a temporary setback with the sickie... but he will be well before we know it. I will have the memories of my attentive husband, caring father to my son, and funny, smart, kind hearted Andy that I am lucky to call
My old man. LOL
seriously would never use that term to describe him but it felt so serious for a second there.
Stay with me,
My love I hope youll always be
Right here by my side if ever I need you
Oh my love
In your arms,
I feel so safe and so secure
Everyday is such a perfect day to spend
Alone with you
I will follow you will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year
With the dark,
Oh I see so very clearly now
All my fears are drifting by me so slowly now
Fading away
I can say
The night is long but you are here
Close at hand, oh Im better for the smile you give
And while I live
I will follow you will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year there will be
I will follow you will you follow me
All the days and nights that we know will be
I will stay with you will you stay with me
Just one single tear in each passing year...
Andy is not, I repeat NOT a singer.
But he can sing a song to me and I am lost in the way he sings it.
