My sweet boy (in devils clothing)
Interesting weekend for us. We went to sister in law Molly's bigass party yesterday and truly is a lovely time... IF I repeat IF you dont have a crazy wild man three almost four year old.
He was truly out of his mind at times, with so many other children running around and new toys and cars to drive bikes to run people over with (yes he did that.)
He has a passion for everything. It is a good thing when you are 15 and love say swimming, or 10 and love trading cards, 20 and love karate.
4 and love to go fast, well mix that with kids and moms that dont know you or why you dont "talk", it makes for a "bad Jack Experience"
Well Jack had a ball, MOST of the other kids loved him, but if you werent quite fast enough or into racing down the driveway with no brakes or hardly steering and definately not looking where you are going.... not so much.
One kid I overheard saying to his Mom "That kid Jack seems to cheer for everyone else.. for no particular reason."
Yeah well, bite me you little nerd hes happy and doesnt quite say
"great run pal down the driveway in your cozy coupe, mind if I run her a bit?"
So he cheered and hooted and had a few meltdown when he had to wait his turn and totally smashed me once in the face (unintentionally of course) when I tried to get him out of his overturned three wheel daisy motorcycle. (unisex toys on the driveway runs- He road a pretend lawnmower a few times yeah he loved it.)
So did I want to lock him in the car and have a few drinks with the grown ups and talk about oh I dont know... whatever grown ups talk about? Yes I did.
But as Andy reminded me, next year he will be almost five and probably (hopefully, prayerfully) he will be running around with the gang and I wont have to catch him at the end of the driveway anymore. Maybe grownup year next year?
He took a lte catnap today so at 9 ishhe waht quite ready for sleep so he snuggled with Andy and I n bed. He curled up on my chest with his knees drawn up like a frog like he did as an infant and turned his head to the side, his ear to my chest. His hands wrapped all the way around me. I could smell the fresh jammies on his body and new soap in his hair, popcorn and toothpaste. There were three jets in bed with us, and he just laid there, like the old days. I recalled the tiny boy that I treasured every second with. I reminded myself that this too shall pass.
I love my crazy little man.
I am starting my new schedule tomorrow, yeah a full M, wed, fri. I didnt think I wanted to be there that much, but I have found new inspiration. I have met someone that makes me want to think again. I am being encouraged to think outside the box and that... my friends... Is a good thing. Thanks G.
