SO Thats why I am here, I almost forgot.....
How easy it seems sometimes for me to think that I am just "here"
I may be just here, at the moment lookin at a half packed house and a half decorated tree with half written Christmas cards. But you know what I am?
I am so much a part of this entire world.
I have contributed so much to this world that is truly inspiring. I may not have personally changed th world persay, but trust me.. these children are going to make their part in the grand scheme known. Then I think about my extended family that is all to evident at this time of year with Cards and exchanges and visits that will be happenin in the next few weeks. Our family began with four sisters. My grandmother the oldest of the four. Her name was Alice.
She lived on the left side of a two family house and this nice young man named Joe lived on the other. They ended up marrying and having three children. My mother ALice being the oldest. My mom grew up on the left side of the family house and her grandparents remained in their perspective homes. you know the PC term is nuclear family, grandparents and parents children all in the same house, actually two sieds of the same house.
OK long story short these four sisters creates something of a monarchy. They fought but never to complain to anyone else. hey had sunday dinners together with all of their 14 children and inlaws every sunday. Now my Mom and Dad courted in that house and got engaged on the front porch. Married and moved to NJ for work opportunity. We were the ONLY ONES to leave the area. EVER.
I am now back along with my mom and raising my children here.
Why...? well they have roots here. true roots. I know that if I needed something I cold call any number of people. I maynot talk to them often but they are my PEOPLE>
So whre am I going.
I am saying hello to the four sisters who except the youngest Betty (87) are all in
a better place. I w ant to thank them for talking about he times when their husbands were away in WWII and they spent their days helping others. wallpapering together, painting babies rooms, and cooking for families that had nothing.
I want thank them for enjoying the simple things and not feeling they were missing anything.
They always had makeup on, and always had dinner ready. They always had a clean neat home, food in the fridge and something easy to cook up for a "snack" if need be.
We have pics of Sundays with the food from end to end and Stegmaier beer bottles all over the tables and all with smiles on their faces.
How lucky am I? Yeah that lucky/,
I purchased thirty Christmas cards and ran out. I know I need more.
Lucky me.
Her is the kicker. If I died tomorrow, My children have these memories also. They know what it means to be snowed in the house with just their grandparent and neighbors but laughing the day away. They know that I love my brothers and parents like friends along with family.
My daughter Allie has said she wants a big house on the main drag of this neighborhood so that the whole family could come for Christmas, Oh yeah we would fit in that house that she chose, easy, no the whole family Mom. Oh we can do it
dont you worry.
Along with the people that will be sitting around the table we cant forget the four sisters that will be watching from above. The house that the sisters built.
Alice, Ruth, Rene, Betty. wow they were cool.
